Hi there!

Happy New Year! 🥂🎊✨🥳 I hope you had a great time celebrating. I put a reflective post up on IG with my thoughts on 2020. Let me know what your thoughts are I would love to know. I also posted about which New Years look I went with, and this matching cozy lounge set & slippers won over the sequin jogger and velvet heels look since let’s be honest it was a stay home kinda New Years! I tagged alternatives of both looks on my LIKEtoKNOW.it page so you have plenty of options to choose from of my loungewear faves. Nasty Gal’s site is having a HIGE 90% off sale and they have an amazing variety of loungewear co-ord sets. I snagged another one (see me wearing it below, it’s also on LTK). Amazon has great options too. Follow me on Amazon to shop my faves lists, of which these slippers are featured in the “clothes and loungewear” list. There you have my whole grouping of items I’ve bought and swear by as well as some others I’ve taken note of to snag later. I even included home decor a lot of which was in my home posts a while back (lots of registry items I got are on there)!

This adorable tartan plaid cape/poncho look I wore out recently to visit the grounds of Gilette Castle in Connecticut. The cape is older but I linked many similar and varying options on my LIKEtoKNOW.it page. Download the app and shop all my looks easily there! I styled it with my JCrew Factory corduroys I’ve posted about on LIKEtoKNOW.it and on here (the JCrew sales are amazing also! These cords were about $20) and my Sorel winter boot faves (called the “Tofino II snow boot”). These ones aren’t heavy to wear at all like the Joan of Arc ones were that I had to return. They keep me warm and dry. My sweater is from Nordstrom and the cashmere is so soft. Finally, even the JCrew face mask is tartan plaid to match. My hat is JCrew factory as well.

Stay safe and healthy and practice self care as we ring in a new year:)

Tartan and Holiday Nails

Carolina Santos Read

Wearing the maxi tartan "Venitia Dress" by Free People, Aldo studded booties, Rebecca Minkoff fringe purse, and Urban Outfitters sweater and beanie.  Photography by Francisco Graciano.

Hi there!

When I think of the holidays what comes to mind is not only glitter, sparkle, and metallics but also tartan.  You know, that beautiful old-school English Ralph Lauren version of plaid that can be either worn edgy or preppy.  In my photo above I styled the beautiful Venitia Dress by Free People with Aldo studded black ankle booties, my Rebecca Minkoff fringe purse, and Urban Outfitters sweater and beanie for a bit of an edgier feel. I love this dress not only for its maxi length but the back and front are deep Vs, and styled with my hair up and maybe a black sequin blazer and heels makes it the perfect outfit choice for a holiday party!

Another way to do plaid I really love is in a buttoned up oxford shirt worn tucked into skinny jeans and with ankle or high boots.  Top it off with a blazer and you have a preppy put together outfit! I am also into a little bow under the buttoned up collar for a feminine touch to a masculine look. Additionally, playing with texture is always fun with plaid. Sometimes I wear my tartan oxford with a sequined mini skirt and tights, or with vegan leather pants.

Holiday nail art option number two, also by Absolutta Esmalteria in Socorro, SP Brazil

Red nails are always a classic for Christmas! New gold moccasin slippers by JCrew factory.

These three holiday nail options pictured above are some of my favorites lately.  In the first photo you'll see a fuchsia nail with gold glitter french manicure accents and a gold glitter statement nail, which I came up with to match my pink and gold look for my cousins' wedding in Brazil last month (see last post for outfit details). In the second photo I went with a lilac nail and cheetah-print statement nail art, and in the third photo you'll see a traditional red nail with my Starbucks and new JCrew factory gold moccasin slippers.

All three ideas are fun for the holidays and parties, so I'd say go for your design and have fun with it to show off your personality and festive spirit! Happy Holidays everyone from my family to yours.

Carolina
